Maguana villas, 21km (13 miles) from Baracoa, are secluded and peaceful in a totally private, pretty cove next to a the famous 2km (1 1/4-mile) long white sand public beach called Playa Maguana.

In the very hot summer the locals come from miles around to play on the pristine sands, gossip a dreat deal, and of course cool off in the fish rich waters. A few fishermen with snorkels and harpoons are there all year round.

The Villas and beach are backed by dense lush sub-tropical jungle and mountains. It is a truely spectacular and an idilic setting for being at one with nature. There are no other hotels here, just these 4 villas!

The Maguana villas would be a great place for a large family or four couples to rent and just hang out here on the beautiful outskirts of Baracoa. Young people will like Baracoa city's nightlife too, especially in the summer months.

Each of the four new villas have four rooms, are quite large and charmingly rustic, like private cabins, with dark wood furniture and red and yellow decor; two have great terraces with rocking chairs overlooking the transparent water. Note that rooms 1 and 2 face the maguana beach.

Guide to Baracoa
It is situated on a bay close to the eastern tip of the island of Cuba where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Founded in 1512 by Diego Velazquez, this is Cuba's oldest European settlement, things are pretty laid back in this town and the abundance of palm trees along this coast give it a South Pacific feel.

The fact that this was an important Spanish outpost is evidenced by the three impressive forts: Fuerte Matachin, now housing the museo municipal; Fuerte de la Punta, now refitted with a restaurant; and El Castillo de Seboruco, which is now a pleasant hotel.

On calle Antonio Maceo, you'll find people queuing for hot chocolate drinks in the baking tropical sun at the Casa del Chocolate, opposite is a lovely Casa de la Trova, holding rooftop performances and you can't forget to visit Plaza Independencia (it is the focal point for community life in the city), Yunque de Baracoa and The Stone Zoo, which comprises a multitude of stone animals.
