Nigel's Special Hotels
Hotel Terral is a new hotel in an enviable location, overlooking the Malecón seawalk & entrance to Havana Bay. The hotel is also within walking distance of historical Old Havana & a range of tourist attractions.

Unlike many hotels in the area that have been adapted over many years, Terral has been designed to the needs of modern travellers, with an ideal location for those who enjoy nightlife & culture. In addition to its fabulous location, Hotel Terral has a great reputation for hospitality with its sumptuous food described by many as the best in Cuba.

There is a wide choice of freshly prepared food & drink at breakfast, served with pride (for example, the salami cut thin, filled with cream cheese & presented in the shape of roses). The staff at Terral hotel clearly take great pride in their food & serve guests in their rooms at no extra charge. There is also a bar serving delicious cocktails.

I had the junior suite room 402. Fabulous! The room is all new and modern, the view is the dogs pyjamas, the jacuzzi works just fine, and the service rather friendly & efficient. The breakfast and snacks are pretty OK but nothing to write home about.

Guide to Central Havana
Along with Habana Vieja, Centro Habana is the most populated and overcrowded part of the city. It is a tumbledown residential / commercial area, the city's main shopping street, Calle San Rafael, traverses it from the Parque Central westwards. The large Partagas tobacco factory, directly behind the Capitolio, is the biggest export factory in the country, with 200 rollers turning out 5 million cigars a year.

Walking around this area you understand why Havana is sometimes referred to as a City of Columns; almost every buildings displays either one or a mixture of the Corinthian, Doric or Ionic types of this structure.
