About Hotel Cubanacan Villa Armonia Tarara
The 3 star Villa Tarara is in a complex located on Tarara Beach just east of Havana, it is the ideal site for relaxation. It has the most prestine white sandy beach near Havana city. It also has its own marina (Marina Tarara) for fishing (including Marlin), scuba diving (with wreck)... Motorcycles and scooters available. There is an excellent Restaurant and bar with swimming pool open to all.
As an currently on-going project many of the villas were newly renovated and refurbished by the end of 2004. The enclosed resort is open to all tourists and Cubans, but all are required to sign-in at the main gate. This is a deterent to some, so ensuring that the beach is always far from over-crowded, but still having a good mix of Cuban and International tourists. The Tarara resort is most definately a beautiful and peaceful place, and so can not be considered "lively". Although it does pick-up a bit a weekends. If you want nightlife, then Havana City, which has one of world's coolest, hotest and craziest, is only 20 mins away by road. If you are going to be hiring a car, this could certainly be the perfect base. Especially if you are planning day trips to Varadero, Playa Larga and Cienfuegos. Guide to Beaches East of Havana (Playas del Este)
The beaches east of Havana are known as "Playa del Este". They are just 20 minutes from Downtown Havana, and include from West to East: Bacuranao Beach, Tarara Beach, El Megano Beach, Santa Maria del Mar Beach, Boca Ciega Beach, Guanabo Beach, Veneciana Beach and Rincon Beach. Choose from 7 km of white sand beach...
Bacuranao Beach is the closest to Havana, and strictly speaking is in the Celimar, Habana del Este district. Through the beach runs the fresh water Bacuranao creek. The beach is not easy for the tourist to find, but is popular with the locals and the Habaneros.
Playa Santa Maria del Mar is a pleasant non-touristy beach, but packed with Habaneros at weekends. It has white sand with remains of coral and shells. Its waters are crystal clear with different shades of green and blue. Underwater, Santa María shows a beautiful landscape of coral reefs, shellfish and lively colored fish. It is an experience to dive in these waters, due to the abundance of the fauna and its irregular landscape.
Guanabo is a charming seaside town with a magnificient beach and a nightlife provided by many discos.
