This vast complex is set on the white sands of Santa Lucia beach. Completely rebuilt in 2000 with all-new facilities, the Club is the perfect choice for travelers who prefer a more expansive setting. Relax with a soothing cup of orange pekoe at the early evening tea service, or browse through the small shopping centre, a five-minute stroll away. Other unique features include the à la carte seafood restaurant (available at extra charge) perched on a pier and a 24-hour beach bar.

Vacationers find the huge swimming pool with its thatched bar a great venue for sunning and socializing. And the entertainment (daytime animaciones – "activities" – and evening cabarets) is a cut above the other hotels nearby, thanks to enthusiastic staff. A slightly rickety wooden boardwalk leads to a rustic seafood restaurant hovering atop the gin-clear waters. But the buffet and Italian restaurants don't rise up to international par with their rather bland foods. Unless you're questing to explore the real Cuba beyond the hotel walls, you won't be bored here. There are plenty of watersports, plus activities from archery to tennis (bring your own racket and balls).

The pink-and-white-painted standard rooms are sparsely furnished with modest green bamboo furniture. They're not quite up to the hotel's four-star billing. The spacious Junior Suites with their beachfront patios are worth the extra money. Small satellite TVs, telephones, min-refrigerators, and in-room safes are standard.
